Why do we say 'Amen'?
The word 'Amen' signifies affirmation, agreement, truth, and trust in God's faithfulness throughout the Bible.
  1. Affirmation of Truth: When people say "Amen" in the Bible, they are affirming the truth or reliability of what has been said. It's like saying "so be it" or "it is true." This can be seen in both Old and New Testament contexts.
  2. Agreement in Prayer: "Amen" is commonly used at the end of prayers as a way of affirming agreement with what has been prayed. It is a declaration that the person saying "Amen" believes and stands by the prayer's contents.
  3. Faith and Trust in God: Since "Amen" shares its root with Aman (faithfulness), it also implies trust in God. Saying "Amen" expresses confidence that God's will is right and will be done.
  4. Christ as the "Amen": In Revelation 3:14, Jesus is referred to as "the Amen, the faithful and true witness," emphasizing His role as the embodiment of truth and faithfulness.
